I am ACSD1 Trustee Emily Siegel Stanton, and I am asking for your vote for re-election to continue serving the students, staff and community of Albany County.
It has been an absolute honor to serve on the school board for my first four year term. The work of understanding the complex issues our school district faces, and making decisions from a holistic perspective in the best interests of all staff and kids is a huge responsibility, as well as a privilege.
Helping our students grow and learn requires a strong and cohesive school district with open communication between the board, the Superintendents cabinet, the ACSD1 staff, and the community. If I am re-elected I will continue to bring courage, kindness, and a commitment to engage in civil dialouge around difficult conversations. In my first term these conversations covered topics such as public health measures, budget allocation, evaluating the population and demographics of students in the district and right-sizing the district to match the funding allocated from the state legislature.
As a parent and a mental health professional I know that strong schools don’t just help our students learn, they help our whole community thrive. Our county is diverse, every kid is different, and I believe in making decisions about the future that take into account the needs of every student, bringing our schools into alignment with a student centered learning model.
I am passionate that our district provides a safe and supportive working and learning environment for everyone, and that our community grows and adapts to allow a place at the table for emerging populations, identifies, and learning needs.
While our society struggles through a time of contentiousness and polarizations, I have enjoyed working with a board where we do not always agree, but treat each other in a way that models respect, kindness, and open-mindedness to one another.
With that in mind, I humbly ask for your vote to serve our community for another four years.
Warmly,
Emily Siegel Stanton
